Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the job stress level among the workers at a number of medium- or small-sized businesses. The subjects include 657 workers at medium- or small-sized businesses. The instrument used in the study was the Korean Occupational Stress Scale-Short Form(KOSS-SF). KOSS-SF had total 24 items of seven subscales; job demand, job control, job insecurity, interpersonal conflict, organizational system, lack of rewards and occupational culture. Collected data were analyzed with t-test and ANOVA, and Scheffe post-test was carried out. The research findings were as follows: 1. There were statistically significant differences according to the subjects' demographic characteristics. The major subscales of job stress for them were insufficient job control, organizational system, and lack of reward. The job stress level was high in the area of job insecurity among those who were male, were in their fifties or older, graduated from college, were married, and had a monthly income of 3,000,000 won or more. Recording a total of 50.1 points, the female workers belonged to the top 50% of the national reference data. Meanwhile, their male counterparts belonged to the bottom 50% of the national reference data with 47.5 points. Thus the female workers suffered more job stress than the male workers. 2. The job characteristics also led to statistically significant differences. The major subscales of job stress included insufficient job control, interpersonal conflict, organizational system, and lack of reward. The job stress level was high in the subscales of job insecurity among those who were in the field of production and management, held a title such as a section head or vice-chief or higher, were not shift workers, worked an average of 6-8 hours a day, and worked for the business for 16 years or longer. The subjects demonstrated more diverse kinds of job stress according to the types of business rather than size. 3. Statistically significant differences were also observed according to life habits and health conditions. The major subscales of job stress included insufficient job control, interpersonal conflict, organizational system, and lack of reward. The job stress level was high in the subscales of job insecurity when they had drinks, had a history of illness or currently suffered from illness, and had a corporate club meeting or attended one. In addition, they showed a high level of job stress when they felt "bad" in six subscales except for job insecurity when short of sleep, and in six subscales except for insufficient job control according to the subjective health conditions. The results will hopefully serve as important basic data when developing a job stress management program and operating a health promotion program according to the types of business and the characteristics of workers in the health promotion projects for medium- or small-sized businesses.
본 연구는 일부 중소규모 사업장 근로자들의 직무스트레스의 수준을 파악하기 위한 조사연구이다. 대구, 경북지역의 중소규모 사업장 근로자 657명을 대상으로 하였으며, 단축형 한국인 직무스트레스 측정도구(KOSS-SF)를 사용하였다. 자료분석은 t-test와 ANOVA를 사용하였고, 사후검정으로 Scheffe를 이용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 인구사회학적 특성에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타난 직무스트레스 요인의 주요 영역은 직무자율, 조직체계, 보상부적절영역이었다. 또한 남성, 50대 이상, 대학졸업자, 기혼, 월수입이 300만원 이상인 경우 직무불안정영역에서 직무스트레스가 높았다. 여성이 총점에서 50.1점으로 전국의 참고치와 비교 시 상위 50%에 속하였고, 남성은 47.5점으로 전국의 참고치와 비교 시 하위 50%에 속하여 남성보다는 여성의 직무스트레스 수준이 상대적으로 높았다. 2. 직무특성에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타난 직무스트레스요인의 주요 영역은 직무자율, 관계갈등, 조직체계, 보상부적절영역이었다. 또한 생산관리직, 과, 차장급, 비 교대, 일일 평균근로시간이 6-8시간, 현직근무기간이 16년 이상 근무자인 경우 직무불안정영역에서 직무스트레스가 높았다. 사업장의 규모보다는 업종에 따라서 직무스트레스가 다양하게 나타났다. 3. 생활습관 및 건강상태특성 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타난 직무스트레스요인의 주요 영역은 직무자율, 관계갈등, 조직체계, 보상부적절영역이었다. 또한 음주를 하거나, 과거나 현재 병력, 회사 내 동호회 모임이 있거나 참여하는 하는 경우 직무불안정영역에서 직무스트레스가 높았다. 수면시간이 불충분한 경우 직무불안정영역을 제외한 6개의 영역에서, 주관적 건강상태에 따라서는 직무자율영역을 제외한 6개의 영역에서 “나쁘다”라고 생각하는 경우 직무스트레스가 높았다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 중소규모 사업장 근로자들의 건강증진사업에 있어 업종과 사업장구성원의 특성에 따른 직무스트레스관리 프로그램 개발과 건강증진 프로그램 운영 시 중요한 기초 자료가 될 것이다.
