- Abstract
- Background: Kawasaki disease is a pediatric illness of unknown etiology which is characterized by vasculitis.
Method : In this study, the plasma level of the Interleukin 2 receptor(IL2R) and Interleukin6(IL6) were measured in 25 cased of Kawasaki disease and 17 cases of control to investigate the changing pattern of the cytokines before and after therapy, using ELISA kits.
Result : The level of the IL2R in 256 cases of Kawasaki disease(7,914 pg/ml) was significantly higher than in control(4,068 pg/ml).
Conclusion : Plasma IL2R and IL6 were elevated markedly in all patients with Kawasaki disease and decreased after treatment with aspirin and gammaglobulin.
