Abstract: Tracheoinnominate artery fistula (TIF) is a rare in otolaryngology department, but highly fatal complication of tracheostomy. When massive hemorrhage begins from TIF, bedside control of hemorrhage by cuff overinflation or by digital arterial compression can be lifesaving.
Authors experienced a patient who developed a small amount of bleeding around the tracheotomy tube one year and 5 months after tracheotomy. On exploratory neck examination, the thyroid and bleeding around the tube stopped but one day after the neck examination, patient had massive bleeding and underwent angiogram of which result confirmed the diagnosis with reacheo-innominate artery fistula.

Author(s): 주종윤
Abstract: From March 5 to April 30 in 2004, 1,021 children were examined for Enterobius vermicularis in the vicinity of Daegu area, Korea. A modification of the Graham’s scotch tape swab technique was employed. All were examined once in the morning. The overall infection rate was found to be 3.5% (36 out of 1, 021). There was no significant gender difference in the rate. The infection was first detected in 3 year old group with an average of 2.9%. The rate of infection among children in Northern district was 4.6% and 2.3$ among children in Eastern district. The difference in the rate of infection among children was not significant between the districts in Daegu city. It is clear from the present survey that the rate of Enterobius infection among the preschool children in Daegu city is lower than that found in the previous reports of enterobiasis in Korea.

Abstract: Warty dyskeratoma is a rare benign tumor, presents mainly as an isolated centrally depressed papule or nodule on the head and neck of mid-aged adult. We report a case of warty dyskeratoma in a 40-year-old man who had an asymptomatic solitary 0.7ⅹ0.7cm sized, centrally depressed brownish papule on scalp for 1 month. Histopathological findings showed a large cup shaped keratin-filled invagination of epidermis, suprabasal cleft formation with corps ronds, grains and numerous villi at the lower portion of the invagination, the characteristic features of warty dyskeratoma.

Abstract: Cutaneous metastases from internal malignancies are relatively infrequent and the frequency varies from 0.7 to 4.4%. Cutaneous metastases from hepatocellular carcinomas(HCC) are rare. The lung, abdominal lymph nodes and bone are the most common sites of extrahepatic metastatic HCC. However we report a case of hepatocellular carcinoma with scalp metastatic nodule as initial presentation. The 53-year-old man presented with asymptomatic left parietal scalp nodule. He did not show any abnormal physical findings including neurological deficits. Pathological examination of the cutaneous nodules on the scalp showed characteristic hepatocellular carcinoma with trabecular gland formation. He received a combined chemotherapy with adriamycin and cisplatin. However, the hepatocellular carcinoma was more progressed and he expired 2.7 years after the diagnosis.
