Abstract
This study was intended to investigate the changes of hepatic and serum mitochondrial aspartate aminotransferase activities after 70% (median and left lateral lobes) partial hepatectomy in rats. The activity of total aspartate aminotransferase in serum drastically elevated between the twelve hours and three days after partial hepatectomy in rats. However, the mitochondrial aspartate aminotransferase activity in serum showed a marked increase from twelve hours to two days after operation. The activity of mitochondrial aspartate aminotrasferase in the regenerating liver strikingly decreased between the first and the sixth days of the operation.
