Abstract
Objective : It has been suggested that increased oxidative stress contributes to atherogenesis and endothelial dysfunction.
Methods : OLETF rats at 12 weeks of age were divided into two groups, and were given diet with(n=6) or without(n=11) 5% a-lipoic acid.
Results : Endothelium-dependent and independent vasorelaxation was impaired in OLETE rats.
Conclusion : OLETE rats showed impaired responsiveness in endothelium-dependent and endothelium-independent vasorelaxation and decreased urinary NO excretion.
