- Abstract
- Osteopetrosis (also called Albers-Schonberg's disease, marble bones and chalk bones) is rare developmental abnormality in which, on the basis of a failure of osteclastic and chondroclastic resorption, the bone become exceedingly dense.
Two clinically distinct forms arc now recognised and have different patterns of inheritance.
The milder form is transmitted as an autosomal dominant trait and the more severe form is transmitted as an autosoamal recessive trait.
Symptoms and complications are caused by insufficient development of the bone marrow and by bony encroachment on the cranial foramina.
We report a case of milder form of ostepetrosis with a review of literature.
