- Abstract
- Pseudomembranous colitis (PMC) is a frequently severe, sometimes fatal, disease which is associated with antibiotics in almost all cases. The common clinical features of PMC include abdominal pain, watery diarrhea, fever, leukocytosis, hypoalbuminemia, and hypovolemia. In severe cases, PMC may be associated with intraperitoneal fluid accumulation. However, the characteristics of the fluid are seldom described. We report two cases of PMC patients who presented with low serum-ascites albumin gradient and neutrocytic ascites, without evidence of infection, malignancy, or inflammatory peritoneal disease.
