ND-stage renal disease (ESRD) with left ventricular
dysfunction is no longer contraindicated for renal
transplantation (RTX) because of the reversibility of car-
diomyopathy after transplantation, but in cases of advanced
heart failure with low ejection fraction (EF) it is still difficult
to make a decision for RTX.‘ ,* Recent advances in nonin-
vasive diagnostic tools such as echocardiography make it
easy and convenient to evaluate the cardiac status. Because
there is no definite guideline to decide the RTX in ad-
vanced cardiac failure patients, we reviewed our own renal
transplant patients and analyzed these data to derive a
guideline about determining RTX.
