- Abstract
- Although intrauterine devices (IUDs) are popular methods
of contraception,1 they have been associated with
serious complications such as uterine perforation. Migration
of an IUD through a perforated uterus sometimes
causes complications in adjacent organs.2-14 In spite of
several reports on involvement of the colon by a lost
IUD,3-7,10-12 removal of them by colonoscopy has rarely
been reported.7 Here, a patient with a lost IUD that was
removed by colonoscopy after a successful full-term delivery
and after initial failure of laparoscopic removal is
discussed.
