Abstract
Chinese hamster ovary cells were substituted with 5-bromodeoxyuridine(BrdU) for two rounds of replication by treatment with BrdU (final conc. 8㎍/ml) for 36h. Restriction endoniclease AluI (recognition site AG/CT) was tested for its ability to induce chromosomal aberrations and sister chromatid exchanges (SCEs) in CHO cells substituted with BrdU. The incorporation of BrdU in place of thymidine might reduce the frequencies of the DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) by restriction endonuclease AluI. However, the results indicated that the DSBs induced during G1 phase of CHO cells by this enzyme leaded to an increase in the frequencies of chromosomal aberrations and SCEs ···
