- Abstract
- The relationship between dermatologic and psychiatric disorders should not be overlooked. Variable dermatologic
disorders induce physical and psychosocial stress, which can aggravate psychiatric diseases, such as depression,
autism, anxiety, and schizophrenia. Inversely, psychiatric problems can also induce dermatitis itself, such as
dermatitis artefecta and trichotillomania. The compliance of patients with psychiatric problems is much poorer than
that of the general population, thus aggravating the dermatitis. Herein, we report 3 cases of aggravated chronic
dermatitis due to poor treatment compliance among patients with underlying psychological disorders, which required
a multidisciplinary team approach involving psychiatrists and close familial support.
