미래인재양성을 위한 의료인문학 교육에서 해부학의 가치

Abstract

Medicine is the study of human health and disease, and medical knowledge must be achieved to become a doctor. Along with this, research ethics, responsibility, and communication skills are also required as the importance of Medical Humanities is growing in the medical curriculum. Anatomy is not only the first subject in the medical curriculum, but also has a lot of connection with Medical Humanities, so it is necessary to examine the significance of Anatomy in Medical Humanities. First, Anatomy began to develop with artists having a lot of interest. Art and humanistic knowledge about history and the etymology of anatomical and medical terminology are included. Also, medical student can learn the mystery of the human body and the nobility of life, and cultivate a responsibility of doctor and respect for life. In addition, during the dissection practice process, students meet a corpse and dissect it, and think about life and death. In addition, while performing physically and mentally difficult dissection practice in groups, they learn communication, cooperation, and leadership, and identify their role in the community. And it is necessary to understand the diversity of the human body and have a challenging spirit to solve various problems encountered during practice. In other words, Anatomy and dissection practice are related to the 5C skills required of future medical professionals: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and compassion. In order to properly achieve this goal, Anatomy educators should continue to have interest in the medical humanities and develop appropriate teaching methods.

의학은 인체의 건강과 질병에 대한 학문으로 의사가 되기 위해 의학적 지식을 성취해야 한다. 이와 함께 프로페셜널리즘, 연구윤리, 책임감, 소통능력 등 또한 의사에게 매우 중요한 덕목으로 요구되면서 의학 교육과정 안에서 의료인문학의 중요성이 커지고 있다. 해부학은 의학 교육과정 중 가장 먼저 시작될 뿐 아니라 의료인문학과도 많은 연관성이 있어서 해부학의 의료인문학적 의의에 대해 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 먼저 해부학은 예술가들이 많은 관심을 가지며 발전하기 시작하였다. 그 속에 예술 뿐 아니라 역사와 해부학 및 의학영어의 어원에 대한 인문학적 지식이 숨어 있다. 또한 그 과정에서 인체의 신비함과 생명의 고귀함을 알아가며 의사의 책임감과 생명존중의 자세를 함양할 수 있다. 또한 해부실습과정 중 시신을 만나고 해부를 하며 삶과 죽음에 대해 생각해보게 된다. 또한 실습과정 동안 육체적으로 정신적으로 힘든 해부실습을 조별을 수행하면서 소통과 협동심, 그리고 리더십 등을 배우며 공동체 속의 자신의 역활에 대해 확립하게 된다. 또한 인체의 다양성에 대해 이해하며, 실습시 만나는 다양한 문제들을 함께 해결해나가는 도전정신도 필요하다. 즉, 해부학과 해부실습은 미래 의료인에게 요구되는 5C 기술인 비판적 사고(critical thinking), 의사소통(communication), 협업(collaboration), 창의성(creativity), 연민(compassion)과 연관이 있다고 할 수 있다. 이 목표를 제대로 성취할 수 있도록 해부학 교육자는 해부학 지식을 전달하는데 그치지 않고 의료인문학에 대한 관심을 지속적으로 가지고, 적절한 교육법을 개발해나가야 하겠다.
