- Abstract
- Purpose:
This study investigated the effects of social support, fatigue, and depression on the quality of life of patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis.
Methods:
This descriptive research included 130 patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis, who were treated in an artificial kidney room. Data were collected from June 2021 to August 2021, and a hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed.
Results:
Social support, depression, and medical staff providing dialysis-related information were significant factors inflencing the quality of life of patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis, and the explanatory power of the model was found to be 41%. Among the factors, social support (β=.52) had the greatest impact on quality of life.
Conclusion:
The results of this study suggest the need to develop nursing interventions and educational programs that can improve the social support of patients with peritoneal dialysis and reduce depression, thereby improving their quality of life.
